For the past four years, we’ve worked with the Mayor’s office of San Jose, CA, to put Decision Engine (a.k.a. Budget Games) to work gaining relevant and actionable feedback on proposed budget cuts from more than 200 community leaders and citizens. The City of San Jose was able to customize the in-person and online forums to allow residents and community leaders with varying priorities to reach consensus on painful, but necessary issues.

clients_adobe-logo“Putting 40 people together for two days is a huge commitment of time for a company. It’s hard to keep people engaged during 16 hours of strategy planning. Thanks to Conteneo, 90 percent were in the meeting the entire time. With traditional presentations, you would lose half the people, but the games kept the participants engaged.” Read this interview with the Adobe team about what they experienced.

clients_verisign-logoWhat could be better than doing serious work and having fun at the same time? Doing that work in a way that actually engages your customers or employees. When your stakeholders actually have a say in your priorities, you get better results, AND they will support your efforts to build and implement the projects you choose. Get the book. Play the games. They work!”

caduceus-30591_640The Federal Health Futures Group (initiated by the US Air Force Medical Services) used a customized visual framework to support healthcare professionals in exploring how teamwork and collaboration can be used to better server patients and their families. Working with Conteneo’s Collaboration Architects, they chose the metaphor of an American Football game — “Health as a Team Sport.” One of the insights from their work is that they found that most health professionals believe health is a “Defensive” game, but to realize breakthroughs in healthcare we need to be “offensive” in driving outstanding health care outcomes.
